Here are a few types and symptoms of bladder cancer

The number of people who have cancer is increasing on a large scale. From all the types of cancer that are detected amongst people in the United States, bladder cancer is fourth on the list. While comparing the ratio between men and women, men are more likely to be diagnosed with bladder cancer than women.

Bladder cancer starts with an excessive growth of urothelial cells, which are found in the bladder lining. They start forming into a mass, which is known as a tumor. A tumor can be classified into two types – malignant and benign. A malignant cancer tumor is known to grow and spread in the body, whereas a benign tumor is limited to growth only.

Types of bladder cancer
There are four main types of bladder cancer. They are as follows:

  • Urothelial carcinoma or transitional cell carcinoma: Urothelial carcinoma is the most common type of cancer detected amongst bladder cancer patients. Almost 90% people with bladder cancer have urothelial carcinoma.
  • Squamous cell carcinoma: These cells grow when there is an irritation in the bladder and inflammation of the bladder. These cells tend to become cancerous eventually. This type occurs in about 4% people who have bladder cancer.
  • Adenocarcinoma: Adenocarcinoma grows from glandular cells. This type of cancer affects about 2% people with bladder cancer.
  • Sarcoma and small cell anaplastic cancer: These are rare types of cancers. Small cell anaplastic cancer is known for spreading in other parts of the body. Sarcoma cancer originates in the muscle layers of the bladder or fat.

Symptoms and signs of bladder cancer
People who have bladder cancer will show the following signs or symptoms:

  • Blood discharge in the urine.
  • Irritation, pain, and a burning sensation while urinating.
  • A change in the color of urine. The color of the urine may appear to be dark red.
  • Unable to urinate despite having a full bladder.
  • A constant urge to urinate frequently.
  • Severe pain in lower back.

A person suffering or experiencing the above symptoms should immediately seek help from a qualified doctor.

  • 6 misconceptions associated with the Paleo diet
The Paleo diet, which steers clear of grains, legumes, dairy, sugar, and every processed and industrialized form of food in order to focus on pre-agricultural food like meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts for maintaining a good health, is often referred to as the “The Caveman Diet.” The Paleo diet for beginners who intend on trying this should also know that it comes with its fair share of misconceptions. The popular 6 misconceptions associated with the Paleo diet are as follows:
    • A fad diet: A fad diet is one that is generally short term, focuses on unhealthy weight loss, and is extreme. The Paleo diet is not a fad diet. It is a lifestyle choice that favors food that evolving humans thrived on for thousands of years before agriculture came into the scene. The Paleo diet, beginners should know, has also proved to be beneficial in healing disorders.
    • It is more meat oriented: This is a misconception because while meat is paleo food, there is more to the Paleo diet than meat. Often, more calories come from fat and oils, nuts, and fruits than meat in this diet.
    • It is elitist and expensive: One reason why it appears that the affluent seem to follow the Paleo diet is that it costs more to buy kale than it does to buy, for example, a frozen TV dinner. However, in the long run, a paleo lifestyle will cost you less than what obesity and diabetes will. Maybe, the more we demand kale or grass-fed meat and the more we eschew frozen pizzas, the more this diet can be made accessible to everyone.
    • It is unhealthy to cut out entire food groups: However, there remains the fact that until about 10,000 years ago, for 99.5 percent of our evolutionary history, these food groups were not even a part of our diet and humans still survived.
    • It is a low carb diet: This is a misconception because while the foods that constitute a paleo diet are low carb by nature, highly active people are advised to take more carbs to complement their active lifestyle.
    • It is a one size fits all approach: It is not that kind of a diet. The Paleo diet is what you would call a template for a healthy lifestyle. It is flexible in approach and allows for changes.
  • Effective Home Remedies to Deal with Ear Infections
Pain in the ear can be extremely disturbing, but it is not always right to start taking antibiotics immediately. To treat ear infections, home remedies are the best because most of the times the ear infection or pain is not too serious. Some of these remedies are as follows: Over-the-counter pain relievers Some very reputed societies consisting of doctors and pediatrics have suggested many over-the-counter pain relievers. These pain relievers help in controlling the pain associated with an ear infection, even of various types such as acute otitis media or middle ear infection. These medicines are safe to use, both with or without antibiotics, but patients must make sure that they follow the dosage instructions mentioned on the label. These medications also have the potential to help lower a fever if the person is suffering from it. If you want to use them for children, make sure you talk to a pediatrician first. Warm or cold compresses People have the tendency to use ice packs or warm compresses, depending on their pain type, to relieve pain. For curing ear infections, home remedies such as this technique can be applied because this method is safe for both children and adults. The correct way to do it is to put the ice pack or warm compress on top of the ear and then alternate the two temperature variations, warm and cold, after 10 minutes. If you exclusively prefer the cold or the warm compress, you can use either of the two compresses. Olive oil As part of treating ear infections, home remedies are aplenty, but the use of olive oil for controlling extreme pain in the ear has been practiced for a very long period of time. There is no hard scientific or medical evidence to prove that drops of olive oil in a patient's ear canal can soothe ear pain or ease it. However, it does work, and works efficiently, which is why people use it even today. To cure an ear infection, using home remedies would depend on the cause of it. If there is a cavity in one's mouth, then the pain in the ear may not improve until they see a dentist. However, if the reason is related to some allergies or cold, using home remedies like these could make this condition bearable as the immunity system of the body fights off the infection slowly.
